Community Gardens

Founded in 2016, growing food in our own community is a key part of our Farm’s mission. With the demand for more growing and garden educational spaces each year, the Community Garden has grown incrementally each year from 40+ plots to 122! This includes installing a children's greenhouse, expanding the fairy and butterfly gardens, adding a pollinator nursery and an exploration garden for visitors to experience all of their senses and learn more about growing a garden. In 2024, we are focusing on expanding accessibility to the community garden and connecting to the larger community. We will be offering public workshops, community potlucks and partnering with new organizations.

Our gardeners represent individuals, families, and organizations such as CREATE Community Studios, Saratoga Pride, LifeWorks, Unlimited Potential, Saratoga Senior Center, and Saratoga Youth Safe Space.

Garden beds come in five sizes, including some that are easily accessible for gardeners with limited mobility. This coming season we will be building two more accessible garden beds. All gardeners are expected to contribute at least six volunteer hours in the garden during the growing season. The larger garden is maintained by all of us within the community.

The Community Garden is managed using organic growing practices. We offer gardeners various seeds throughout the season, compost and access to water and tools. Experienced staff are available to help gardeners grow successfully. All levels of experience are welcome- from beginner to lifelong gardeners!

We welcome back returning gardeners each year and will begin to fill open beds in early March as we go through our waitlist. The garden beds are offered at a yearly sliding scale cost to ensure that everyone has the ability to join. You can read more about our sliding scale here.

Our Community Garden beds are filled for the 2024 gardening season!

If you are interested in a future garden bed, place your name on our waitlist below – you will be informed as soon as there is availability.
If your organization or group is interested in a garden bed, please email our Garden Manager directly!

In the meantime, please sign up for our monthly newsletter so that you can learn more about upcoming gardening classes, programs, events, and volunteer opportunities.

You are also welcome to enjoy the beautiful landscape and serenity that the Community Garden offers. The garden is open for the public to walk around and explore the wide diversity of plants growing!
